The hottest wedding trends of 2013

With a new year, comes new wedding trends! And let me tell you, I have tons to share. Much like fashion, there are certain wedding elements that go in and out of style. So if you're in the thick of planning for your big day, keep these hot trends of 2013 in mind:

  • Flowers: In the way of blooms, there are a few things that are here to stay. Peonies are hot, hot, hot right now. This soft, romantic flower is actually the most requested wedding flower for two years running, according to Bridal Guide. Cascades are also a top pick because of their beautiful silhouette with long and slender flowers.
  • Dessert: While cake will always be in style, sweets are becoming a must-have wedding element as well. Even Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds had a sweets table at their elegant affair. Display cupcakes, cookies and your favorite candy for an arrangement your guests will adore.
  • Drinks: San Francisco-based wedding planner Amy Nichols is well-known for her beautiful weddings, and she expects that artisanal cocktails will be big. Hand-crafted drinks named after the bride and groom are a cute way to personalize cocktail hour.
  • Wedding invitations: Prints are taking over this year – especially the honeycomb print. They work beautifully for invitations, save the dates and even on table linens. This Clearly Sterling – Black Invitation is a hot print which resembles that of honeycomb.
