Moving tips to make your life easier

Packing up your house or apartment and moving to an entirely new location for a fresh start can be an exciting change. However, that doesn’t mean that moving heavy furniture and all of your precious belongings is going to be a walk in the park – it involves hard work and effort. Check out these moving tips to make the process go smoothly:

Send out an announcement
Think about all of the things you regularly get in the mail, like wedding invitations, birthday cards, bills or reminders about doctor appointments. You don’t want all of your friends and family to be sending your mail to your old address. This “We’ve Moved” Announcement is perfect for letting everyone know that you’ve moved and includes the new address they should use instead.

Use clothing instead of bubble wrap
Instead of wrapping your glasses and stemware in bubble wrap, pack them in your clean socks for extra padding. You can also wrap your breakable dishes in clothing to kill two birds with one stone, packing your clothes and kitchenware at the same time.

Apply box labels
Instead of writing a generic word in marker on your moving boxes, streamline the organization process by using labels. Write down exactly what’s in the box and what room it will be going into in your new home. This will make it easy for you and the movers to establish what goes where in your abode.

Give away unwanted items
Do you really need that dictionary your aunt gave you when you were in college? Declutter and throw away, sell or donate those unwanted items. The lighter your load, the more time you’ll save packing, getting things together and putting everything away.

Protect cosmetics
It can be easy for cosmetics to get tossed around and broken during a move. Make sure that they stay put by placing an extra cotton pad or ball into your powder-based makeup.
