When to ORDER and Send Holiday Party Invitations

The checklist is great for planning the party, but sometimes all you want to know about are the invitations. Here’s a quick timeline for when to order and send holiday party invitations.

8–10 WEEKS BEFORE THE PARTY

√ Create a preliminary guest list. Estimate your number of guests, which will help you make informed decisions as you go.

√ Select and order invitations. Early ordering ensures you’ll have time for addressing and mailing invitations that beautifully reflect your theme.

6-8 WEEKS BEFORE

√ Finalize the guest list. Fine-tune your guest list and start collecting addresses for a smooth mailing process.

4-5 WEEKS BEFORE

√ Address and mail the invitations. Address and mail invitations four to five weeks in advance. This allows guests time to arrange their schedules and RSVP.

2-4 WEEKS BEFORE

√ Confirm RSVPs. Follow up with guests who haven’t responded so you can adjust food and drink quantities as needed.

ENJOY ENTERTAINING

After all the planning, it’s time to relax, mingle and create lasting memories with friends and family. And something I always like to remember the day of a party I’ve planned is something the famous painter Bob Ross always said, “we don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.”
