what to wear. Here are our do’s and don’ts to guest attire.
Don’t….
Wear white – The only person who should be dressed in white is the Bride. The
exception to the rule is if the Bride and Groom have requested that guests wear white.
Look like a bridesmaid – If you know the color of the bridesmaid’s dresses, don’t
wear the same or similar color. Also try not to have the same style dress.
Jeans or shorts – These are a big no! Just like wearing white, unless the Bride and
Groom have specified a certain dress code, stick to dress slacks.
Do…
Wear a nice suit – it doesn’t have to be tux or super formal, but it at least looks like
you put in some effort for the wedding. The best part is, you can ditch the suit jacket
during the reception for a more casual look.
Listen to the dress code – If there is a dress code on the invitation, follow that for
your attire. If there isn’t anything about attire on the invitation, then assume it’s
okay to dress in semi formal clothes.
Wear a knee length dress – This length of dress is still cute and guarantees that
older guests will approve. You can still dance and have fun without worrying about
too much exposure.
No matter what you wear, make sure you are comfortable! Weddings are supposed to
be fun so don’t wear something that makes you feel stiff and has you counting down the
minutes until you can switch into some sweatpants. Always look your best, as moms
always say – it’s best to be overdressed then underdressed!
