With the movie out, we’re all going Great Gatsby-crazy. I’m currently in the process of re-reading the book to prepare myself. But we’re not the only ones loving this 1920s era book-turned-film. Brides all over are looking to inflect a little Great Gatsby vintage flair into their nuptials. Here are a few party planning ideas for your 1920s-inspired big day:
Elegant invitations
The first step is setting the mood for the theme with this elegantly designed, gold-lined Deckled in Gold – Invitation. It looks like stationery that Daisy Buchanan herself would send out. Make a note for your guests that says “jazz age attire suggested.”
Vintage hairpiece
Amp up your locks by adding a feathered, bejeweled or lace headband. It’s such a simple way to inject some style into your look while sticking to the theme. A rustic birdcage veil can be attached to the headband for a sweet retro look.
Pearls, pearls, pearls
Nothing says Great Gatsby quite like a nice set of pearls. These babies can be placed virtually anywhere in your reception decor. Hang them from tables, wear them or place them in a vase complete with pink roses.
Hats
Dress up the groom, groomsmen or both with hats seen in the film! Think fedoras, golf caps or boater hats. Whichever you pick will be on theme and is sure to look stunning on the men in your party.
