Fun entertainment ideas for your winter party

With summer bashes, everyone can head outside and enjoy the warm sun, barbecue, play in the pool or join together in a game of backyard baseball. Parties in these summer months seem to have an endless amount of activities from which to choose. But when it comes to winter festivities, that list shortens – or so it seems. The cold weather just forces you to become a little more creative with your entertainment. Try any of these party planning ideas for a winter get-together:

Hot chocolate bar
What better way to warm up than with a cup of rich and creamy hot cocoa? But everyone likes their hot chocolate differently. For your party, set up a modern hot chocolate bar where your guests can custom create their own beverage just the way they like it. Set out different bowls of ingredients like cinnamon sticks, peppermint sticks, nutmeg, cayenne pepper, whipped cream, chocolate shavings and mini marshmallows (don’t forget about the peppermint schnapps for the adults). Your party guests can include as little or as many of those ingredients in their hot chocolate as they desire. For a children’s party, you could even have all of the little one’s decorate their own mug beforehand. They’ll love drinking cocoa out of their own creation!

Bake
Throw your very own baking party where guests can create their favorite winter treats. Everyone can make their favorite type of cookies and then, when they’re all done, the baked goods can be shared with friends. You can also whip up other sweet treats like cinnamon rolls, apple pie, red velvet cake or hot chocolate cupcakes.

Center it around a game
Have the main event at your winter party be centered around one of the most popular winter sports: hockey. Tell everyone to wear their favorite team’s attire and you can all watch the two teams take the ice together. Hand out themed treats, like cupcakes with the team’s logo drawn with icing or cookies in the shape of hockey pucks.
